The West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) is a West-African economic and integration organisation.

The six member countries of the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) are:

  1. Gambia
  2. Ghana
  3. Guinea
  4. Liberia
  5. Nigeria
  6. Sierra Leone

All the member countries of the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) are members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) should be integrated with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)

The purposes of the WAMZ are to achieve the economic integration of the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone and the creation of a single currency (ECO, Western Africa Monetary Institute)

  1. Population of the countries of the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ): 195 million West African
  2. All the countries of the WAMZ are Anglophones, except Guinea (Francophone)
  3. Creation of the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ): 2000
